Billy Joel is an American singer, songwriter, pianist and composer. His international acclaim has followed him since his first single “Piano Man” hit the charts in 1973.  His  father was a classical pianist and Billy reluctantly took up playing piano at the insistence of his mother. It wasn’t until The Beatles burst onto the American scene that he decided to take up his career in music. In the early years Joel played in a few bands but eventually immersed himself in a solo career.

He has become a best selling recording and solo artist and won many awards. He is one of the best selling solo artists of all time.

Amongst his numerous awards Billy Joel was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame (1992), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1999),  and the Long Island Music Hall of Fame (2006)
