Beck Hansen (born Bek David Campbell; July 8, 1970), is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist.
He is best known for his fusion of genres, including hip-hop, alternative rock, folk, and blues. He released his debut album, Golden Feelings, in 1993, followed by Mellow Gold in 1994. He won two Grammys in 2005 for the song, “Loser,” and at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, he received five nominations and four wins, including Album of the Year and Best Rap Album for his album, Morning Phase.

Beck obtained his first guitar at 16 and became a street musician, playing mainly folk music.
After dropping out of high school in the mid-1980s, he educated himself and traveled widely, picking up musical influences along the way. The late-80’s found him in New York City as part of the punk-influenced anti-folk music movement.
