Emmylou Harris

Emmylou Harris started out as an American folk singer in New York, singing in clubs and bars to make a living. After a few years (and the break up of her marriage) she moved to Washington where there was a revival of country music and it was here that she met Gram Parsons who became her mentor and staunch supporter until his untimely death.

Emmylou Harris formed an band and recorded her successful solo album Pieces of The Sky which was an eclectic mix of covers and showed her versatility with style.

Since then she has had continued success across a variety of country-rock -blues -jazz genres (including duets with Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits) and has had the honour of being inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame.
