Lily Allen is a British recording artist from London. She did not fare very well in the school environment but did manage to cultivate a strong love for music, taking singing lessons and playing piano, violin, guitar and trumpet.
Lily Allen was one of the first pop stars to emerge through social media, developing a fan base via MySpace before the release of her 2006 debut album, Alright, Still, which features the hit song “Smile.” It’s Not Me, It’s You was released in February 2009 and debuted at No. 1 in the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, and spawned hit singles like “The Fear.”
In November 2013, she released a cover of Keane’s “Somewhere Only We Know” for the John Lewis Christmas advert with a portion of the song’s sales earnings donated to Save the Children. Released as a download single, it reached number one in the UK singles chart on 24 November.
