Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band composed of five members: lead singer Adam Levine, keyboardist Jesse Carmichael, bass player Mickey Madden, lead guitarist James Valentine, and drummer Ryan Dusick. Original members first came together as Kara’s Flowers in 1994 when the lads were still in school but the group was disbanded when they went off to college. In 2001 they reformed under the name Maroon 5 and in 2002 released their debut album Songs About Jane. The album’s lead single was “Harder to Breathe”, and helped the album to debut at number six on the Billboard 200 chart.

They have since toured heavily and been prominent figures in the world charts with their hit “Payphone” reaching number 1 in the UK.
