Nolan Sisters (The) were a female sibling quintet from the UK. After doing some recording and performing with other family members, the sisters (Bernadette, Anne, Denise, Linda and Maureen) became a distinct group in 1974 and began appearing on TV variety shows. Their biggest hit by far, “I’m In The Mood For Dancing” came in 1979. The youngest sister Colleen joined in 1980 after Anne left.
The group disbanded in 2005, with Maureen Nolan having been a permanent member for 31 years. The sisters have pursued varying solo careers in acting, music and television presenting. In 2009, Maureen, Linda, Bernie, and Coleen Nolan, reformed for a 25-date concert tour of the UK and Ireland, spawning an album and DVD but a later reunion tour was cancelled due to Bernie’s illness. She died from cancer at the age of 52.
