1970 Interesting Facts

The first ever Glastonbury Festival was staged at Worthy Farm, Shepton Mallet, UK. Acts included : Wayne Fontana, The Kinks, Stack Ridge and Mark Bolan and it cost £1 to enter the festival.

Diana Ross & The Supremes performed live for the last time together. There was a star studded audience including : Smokey Robinson, Tina Turner and Marvin Gaye

Paul McCartney released his first solo album. It reached Number 1 on the Hot 100 Billboard in the US and Number 2 on the UK charts, but no song from it was ever issued as a single. The Beatles also released their last album at the same time.

And finally … on 31st December, after a rollercoaster of a decade The Beatles announce the bands demise.
